Yes, it has arrived! Here's a few pictures my wife took to remember the moment.

To open something this important, a 15 year old dull steak knife seemed like the best option.

It only took 15 minutes to get through the bubble wrap. I did say it was a dull knife.

In all seriousness, this is one of the most beautiful books I have ever seen. Just flipping through its many pages is a rewarding experience. My 4 year wait for the book may have seemed long, but in return I will have many more years to enjoy this incredible labor of love. Tim and Donna, congratulations and thank you for giving us such an amazing treasure.

The Elusive Beast

As someone who has spent time in the woods looking for Bigfoot (true fact!), I'm more than qualified for daily trips to the front porch in search of the elusive Bava book. So far I've had more luck finding Bigfoot prints (3) than books (0). The only thing I found on the porch today was a Pier 1 ad and the community newspaper. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.

Waiting Patiently

4 years. At least I think it has been 4 years. It's easy to lose track of time when waiting for something special. In my case that something special is the book Mario Bava: All the Colors of the Dark by Tim Lucas, a massive biography of Italian film director Mario Bava. It should be showing up on my doorstep any day now. 4 years after I ordered it.

It's not that I'm complaining, because I'm certainly not. There's good reasons why it has taken that long for the book to finally see the light of day. I won't go into the details, but you can read them for yourself here. The purpose of this blog is to, frankly, have a bit of fun with my waiting game. Of course, the fun could be short-lived. The book could be waiting for me on my doorstep.
